Steve is a professional and highly experienced commercial leader and problem solver. He is a Chartered Member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, the Chartered Institute of Building and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
Steve trained and developed his early career as a QS with Taylor Woodrow and progressed to hold senior management and director level posts with Mowlem, Carillion and Balfour Beatty.
He has in excess of 40 years of experience covering most sectors of the construction industry including commercial offices, residential, education, health, retail, roads, rail, prisons and aviation.
Since starting his consultancy business in 2017 Steve has provided commercial services for Employers, Developers, Main Contractors and specialist subcontractors.
His contract expertise includes JCT, NEC, PPC, PFI, Government and bespoke forms of contract and his key accomplishments include the resolution of many commercial disputes using a variety of methods.
He has an excellent track record of resolving difficult commercial accounts through robust preparation and negotiation and if necessary through formal dispute resolution processes.
Steve has extensive pre-contract and procurement experience with main contracts, sub-contracts and consultant appointments and he advises on commercial and contractual risk management using traditional, design & build, two stage and negotiated tender arrangements. He is also experienced working within framework agreements and joint ventures.
He has successfully led and implemented a number of business improvement and change programmes within contracting organisations and has considerable experience with organizational re-structuring.
Steve has a naturally open, engaging and collaborative style and has built strong customer and stakeholder relationships wherever he has worked.
He is passionate about developing people, has championed various training programmes and has coached and mentored individual staff within organisations he has worked for. He provides commercial and project management training services including advisory work and guest lecturing support for the University of Hertfordshire.
Outside of work Steve is married with three grown up children.  Aside from enjoying family time and holidays, Steve has several hobbies including motorcycling, golf, badminton, swimming and reading.
